E-Books are books in electronic form that may are delivered either over the Internet as downloadable files, or on physical media such as disks or CD-ROMs. It is probably fair to say that the majority of E-Books in circulation are designed to be read on a normal desktop computer or laptop, but there are also some E-Books out there which are intended to be read on handheld electronic devices such as Portable Digital Assistants ("PDAs"), Pocket PCs and "E-Book Readers". The compiler converts content that you supply (often prepared in a word processor or HTML editing program) into your desired E-Book format. Additionally you may want to get some for creating 3D-style images of E-Book covers, as these images (sometimes known as "box shots" or "ecovers") can be useful in advertising and promotion. Most E-Book authors also find it helpful to set up a simple web site advertising their wares - although if you prefer to sell your E-Books on auction sites such as eBay you could do that instead.
